Orrin Hatch won't help the Conservative cause if he's re-elected, he'll further advance the Progressive cause. He's voted for many healthcare mandates, including SCHIP and Medicare part D. He voted for the Auto and Bank bailouts. He's also voted for 17 debt ceiling increases = 7.6 trillion dollars. He ALSO LIED about these 17 votes:

Can it be done? Yes. Is Similarity built to do it currently? No.

If you would like to edit the code yourself I could look at what changes you would have to make or if you can wait that sounds like a useful feature that I could push out in a new release in the near future.

The figures you cite would seem to confirm the assertions that I accepted of average teacher salary being around $50K which confirms my conclusion that salaries for classroom teachers make up only a fraction of education spending. That fact that a teacher who has been there for 5 years makes nearly $50K makes sense when you consider that, at least here in Utah, the attrition rate in the first two years for new teachers is around 50% according to my memory. I was making no attempt to argue whether teachers are adequately compensated - my argument was that teacher pay does not account for our education spending and that where we talk about spending in education we have to look beyond teacher pay to see anything close to the whole picture.

As for the comparison of a teacher to a babysitter, that was not my comparison, it was simply the comparison made in the email that prompted my post. I made no attempt to address it either way.

Take a look at righttoknow.com. I found exact figures of anyone who works for government in Utah. My Bishop is a teacher and I had to laugh a little to myself when he said he doesn't make a lot. He makes about 95K. My sister has been a teacher or about 5 years and already makes near 50K. These numbers do include additional compensation with benefits, but that's still a lot.

So many times we hear that teachers don't get paid a lot, but if you look at the numbers the compensation is more than fair. I'm also not so sure that the comparison of a teacher and a babysitter is relevant.
